How to read it
Diameter and thickness: the largest size on Energizer’s drawing, which is also the size Renata prints. Energizer’s drawings let a cell be up to 0.4 mm thinner than that, on the CR2450: 5 mm at most, 4.6 mm at least.
Capacity: each maker’s typical figure in milliamp hours. Energizer rates its cells down to 2.0 V on a light load; the two makers’ figures differ by up to 80 mAh on the CR2450.
The digits: in every cell in the chart, the first two digits are about the diameter in millimeters and the last two the thickness in tenths of a millimeter.

Side on and to scale: one width comes in several thicknesses, so read the code on the flat side, or measure the edge as well as the face.
Cells the same width are not the same cell. A CR2025 and a CR2016 fit the same 20 mm space as a CR2032 but are thinner and hold less: see CR2032 vs CR2025 vs CR2016. To find a code from another maker, type it into the battery equivalent finder.

Common questions
Which coin battery holds the most?
The CR2477 has the most of the cells in this chart: Renata gives its CR2477N 950 mAh. It's 7.7 mm thick, so it only fits a holder made for it.
Are CR and BR coin cells the same size?
Yes, by Renata's cross reference, which lists a BR cell of the same number beside many of its CR cells, such as Panasonic's BR2032 beside its CR2032. The chart gives CR figures. Panasonic rates its BR2032 at 200 mAh and -40 to 85 C, and its CR2032 at 225 mAh and -30 to 85 C.
Is a DL2032 a different size?
No, by Renata's and GP's lists: both put Duracell's DL2032 beside their CR2032.
