What Battery For
Your answer

LR1130 battery equivalent

An LR1130 is the alkaline button cell Energizer sells as the 189 and codes LR54: 11.6 x 3.05 mm, 1.5 V. Silver oxide cells of that size are the 389 and 390.

Printed on the flat side of a coin or button cell, or on the label of a larger battery.

What that code is

Type the code printed on the battery, such as LR1130, 389, AG10.

LR54, LR1130 and 189: the alkaline names

AG10Ansmann’s LR54 / LR1130 / AG10 sheet
Four button cells seen edge on, to scale: 11.6 by 5.4 mm, 11.6 by 3.05 mm, 7.9 by 3.6 mm and 6.8 by 2.6 mm.
Ringed: the 11.6 x 3.05 mm cell, as wide as an LR44 but only a little over half as thick.

389 and 390: the silver oxide names

Silver oxide codes for this size, from Renata and Energizer
CodeWhere it’s printed
389, SR1130WRenata’s 389 data sheet (high drain)
390, SR1130SWRenata’s 390 data sheet (low drain); Energizer’s 390 page
SR54Renata’s 389 sheet; Energizer’s 390 page
D389/390Renata’s list (Duracell); Energizer’s 390 page

Renata’s data sheets give the 389 and 390 as 11.6 x 3.05 mm, the same as Energizer’s 189, and its 390 sheet allows a height of 2.8 to 3.05 mm. Renata’s product pages round the height to 3.0 mm.

Calculators that name it

80 mAh or 50: how each maker rates it

Energizer rates its 189 at 80 mAh to 0.9 V. Duracell rates its LR54 at 50 mAh to 1.2 V, and Renata its 389 and 390 at 80 mAh to 1.2 V. Each maker tests to its own voltage, so the figures don’t line up.

Renata’s sheets call the 389 high drain and the 390 low drain. Energizer’s silver oxide manual names calculators among the uses for high drain cells.

Common questions

Is AG10 the same as LR1130?

Ansmann puts both names on one alkaline cell, which it sells as LR54 / LR1130 / AG10 with the 189 among its comparison types. GP lists V10GA for that size rather than AG10.

Is LR1130 the same as LR54?

Yes, by GP and Ansmann: GP lists LR54 and LR1130 as equivalent models of its 189, and Ansmann names one cell LR54 / LR1130 / AG10. Casio's calculator guide prints LR54 (LR1130).

Is a 390 the same as a 389?

Renata's data sheets give the 390 and 389 the same size, volts and capacity: 11.6 x 3.05 mm silver oxide, 1.55 V, 80 mAh. Renata calls the 390 low drain and the 389 high drain.

Where we get our information from

Codes, sizes and capacities come from Energizer’s 189 sheet and 390 page, Duracell’s LR54 sheet, GP’s 189 page and Renata’s 389 and 390 pages and data sheets, with Ansmann’s LR54 sheet for its codes; the calculators from Casio’s guide and Texas Instruments’ support page; the swallowing line from the National Capital Poison Center. Checked against published data from Energizer, Renata, National Capital Poison Center, GP Batteries and Ansmann (plus 3 more).
